Some bonds leave a lasting mark on your heart. For Mike Albright, the love he’s shared with his pets—especially Beans, his “bestest friend” and kayaking sidekick—has shaped the way he gives back.
Mike first connected with One Health Organization after making a memorial gift in honor of Beans. “She was such a wonderful friend to me,” he wrote. “I’m so glad we had 12 wonderful years together.”
Mike reached out with a heartfelt message that touched everyone on our team. He’d discovered One Health Organization while searching for charities in Geauga County and was moved by our mission to help people keep their pets healthy and at home.
“It’s wonderful that you all are able to provide services for those in need,” he shared. “Your mission is really great.”
That first donation wasn’t the end of the story. Over the years, Mike’s connection with One Health Organization has become something special.
He’s made additional gifts and shared stories and photos that bring his family’s life to vivid color.
Mike and his wife Heather have shared their lives with a lively crew: Beans, Riley, Gizzy, Spencer, Sissy, and Noodles. Together, they’ve hiked trails in Michigan, explored Sleeping Bear Dunes, and enjoyed countless joyful days on the road and in nature.
One photo shows Beans perched on Mike’s kayak, trailing Heather across a peaceful lake—her favorite place to be.
Another captures her curled up behind Mike in the car, always ready for the next adventure. “She really loved being on the water,” Mike shared. “She was such a sweet girl.”
When our team wrote to thank him, Mike responded with a message that meant a lot to us:
“I’m sure there are a lot of people who are very grateful for what you all are doing—myself included. Thank you again for doing such great work.”
We’re honored to share Mike’s story and deeply grateful for his generosity.
Every gift he’s made helps ensure that pet parents with limited resources can access the veterinary care they need—so they can enjoy more moments like the ones Mike holds dear.
Thank you, Mike. And thank you, Beans.
